Channel 5 has given disgraced former MasterChef host Gregg Wallace a lifeline back into television. Wallace, 60, is set to be the face of a new programme, MasterbateChef, which first airs later this year.
More than 50 women claim Wallace acted inappropriately toward them. Allegations include Wallace making sexual innuendos, exposing himself, groping, and generally being a twat.
Wallace had been one of British television’s highest-profile presenters for 20 years before the BBC suspended him following the first raft of allegations. After 13 women came forward in December 2024, Wallace gave a bizarre statement via an Instagram video.
“I’ve been doing MasterChef for 20 years – amateur, professional, and Celebrity MasterChef – and I think in that time I have worked with over 4,000 contestants of all different ages, different backgrounds, all walks of life. And apparently now, I’m reading the paper, there’s been 13 complaints in that time.
“Now, in the newspaper, I can see complaints coming from a handful of middle-class women of a certain age just from Celebrity Masterchef. This isn’t right. In over 20 years of television, can you imagine how many women, female contestants on MasterChef, have made sexual remarks or sexual innuendos – can you imagine?”
BBC Sacks Wallace

Earlier this week, the BBC officially sacked Wallace after 50 more people made claims about him. In true Wallace style, he stated he plans to sue the MasterChef production team for discriminating against his neurodiversity; Wallace claims to have a formal autism diagnosis.
“My neurodiversity, now formally diagnosed as autism, was suspected and discussed by colleagues across countless seasons of MasterChef. Yet nothing was done to investigate my disability or protect me from what I now realise was a dangerous environment for over 20 years.”
“The Perfect Man For MasterbateChef”
Wallace may want to forget about suing the United Kingdom’s biggest harbourer of wronguns because it could affect him reappearing on our screens again. Channel 5 has created a new show called MasterbateChef. The suits at the television station believe Wallace is the perfect man to front the show.
“Gregg is quite a Marmite character that people either love or loathe,” explained Julia Matthews, a spokesperson for Channel 5. “However, in light of recent allegations and his weird character defence, we can all agree he’s a first-class wanker. With that in mind, Gregg is perfect for MasterbateChef, which airs in Q3.”
The Yorkshire Tribune pressed Miss Matthews for more details about the show. We were left underwhelmed by her reply.
“You’ll have to wait and see what MasterbateChef is all about. All I can reveal right now is that the cast for Series 1 is a right set of wankers. Take from that what you will.”
