Snow lands in Leeds

Yorkshire Folk Flabbergasted to See Snow in Winter

Environment

Thousands of Yorkshire folk have awoken to a blanket of snow outside and are standing open-mouthed at their bedroom windows, seemingly unable to comprehend that it gets cold in November.

Snow began falling near The Yorkshire Tribune‘s Leeds headquarters at around 19:00 GMT on Monday evening and continued for several hours.  Our staff arrived at the office with minimal disruption despite a couple of inches of snow settling overnight.

According to social media, others have not been as fortunate as our correspondents and are struggling to make the journey to work and school. Kelsie-Leigh “Proud Mummy” Jones took to Facebook this morning, claiming she can’t take her children to school.

“Jayden, Raiden, Breyden, and Okayden won’t be in school today because I’m literally snowed in. There’s no way I’m walking in this in my PJs, dressing gown, and slag wellies. When they said it was snowing, I thought Daz was doing his three for £100 offer again, but I was wrong. The last time a couple of inches caused this much stress, I got preggers with our Okayden. Can someone lend us a bluey so I can get some gas?”

Brexiteer Blames Snow on Immigrants and Wind Farms

Brian Bonds, a devout Brexiteer, blamed the recent snow on immigrants and wind farms.

“When I voted to leave, it was because I thought all the brown people would be sent back to where they came from. That has not happened, and now we have snow in November. It’s definitely their fault for imposing their Sharia laws on us. Don’t get me started on wind farms, either. Blowing all that foreign air onto the UK. Its discusting [sic].”

Regardless of what people believe caused last night’s snow, the reality is we’re almost in winter, and it gets cold this time of year. The UK averages 13 days of lying snow annually. More snow does fall, but it tends not to settle. Those skirt-wearing Scots average 23 days of lying snow.

If the sprinkling of white stuff blew your mind this morning, wait until tomorrow because temperatures are set to plummet to minus 1, meaning any liquid on the ground will turn to ice. Whatever next?
