The British Government should look at alternatives to wind farms in its quest for greener energy, according to the founder of the Too Windy All the Time (TWAT) action group. Bernie Callaghan claims the United Kingdom is windy enough without another 400 wind turbines installed at the Hornsea Wind Farm.
The Hornsea Wind Farm is located approximately 75 miles off the east coast of England in the North Sea. Two of the four projects are complete, with the eventual wind farm group expected to have a total capacity of up to 6 gigawatts (GW). That is enough to provide renewable energy to 2.3 million British homes.
Hornsea One consists of 174 wind turbines that commenced full operations in early 2020. Another 165 turbines comprise Hornsea Two, which was fully operational by 2022. Construction of 231 offshore wind turbines for Hornsea Three is due to be completed in 2027 before another 180 wind turbines will be built by 2030 for Hornsea Four.
Wind Farm Not Wanted or Needed

Mr Callaghan, a proud flat-Earther, founded TWAT in August 2020, just as Hornsea One became fully operational. While Callaghan commends the government’s dedication to providing our island with greener energy, he believes another wind farm is not the answer to our country’s power woes.
“The United Kingdom is windy enough without constructing another offshore wind farm. We already have over 330 giant wind turbines blowing air toward our country. Just last week, next door’s trampoline ended up in a tree, and it’s all down to those bloody wind farms, I’ll tell thee.”
“By the time another 400 are installed at Hornsea Three and Four, it’ll be permanently blowing a gale wherever you call home. Global warming is a worldwide hoax. If they want greener energy, why not build nuclear power plants, send the waste into space, or bury it in Beeston or Dewsbury?”
Prime Minister Chimes In
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer responded to the Yorkshire Tribune’s request for comment on the wind farm and Callaghan’s concerns.
“My father was a toolmaker, so seeing the Hornsea wind farm, an engineering marvel, grow brings me much joy. Hornsea Three should be live by 2027. Based on our calculations, 29% of our country’s poorest pensioners will have frozen to death by then, thus reducing our power requirements. Despite this, Hornsea Four will still go ahead because a few of us have significant shareholdings in the various companies involved in the project.”
“As for Mr Callaghan’s wind-related concerns, he could always buy a windbreaker from my new Toolmaker clothing brand.”
Wind Farm Power Accounts for Over 30% of the UK’s Electricity Generation
According to the excellent free-to-use National Grid monitor at I Am Kate, there was a 36.1GW electricity demand in the UK at 5:00 p.m. GMT on October 21, 2024. Some 38.5% of that demand (13.87GW) was met by burning gas. Wind farm-derived power met 12.12GW of demand at that time.
On December 21, 2023, between 09:00 a.m. and 09:30 a.m. GMT, wind farm power averaged a record 21.81GW of generation. Sorry, Mr. Callaghan. It looks like wind power is here to stay.
